Our Thanksgiving FOR the Turkeys event is our largest fundraiser of the year.  We save turkeys from being on a plate and allow them to live the rest of their natural lives in peace and love here at the Sanctuary.  In addition to celebrating these magnificent beings, this event helps us to raise money to pay our feed bill for the winter.  This is our 16th anniversary of holding this event.  Every year, we are thrilled to welcome old friends back and new ones to the family.

We charge admission to this event to raise money for the Sanctuary, but instead of a fixed amount, we are letting you choose the admission price that is right for you by buying a virtual item the animals need and you will have the option to make an additional donation either online or at the event.  Children tickets are available for a fixed price of $10 for children ages 4-17 and free for chldren 3 and under.  One ticket is required per person, they are non-refundable.

Avian influenza, or "bird flu," is a contagious viral disease of domestic and wild birds. It's a major threat to the poultry industry, animal health, trade, and the economy worldwide. Caused by influenza type A viruses, the disease varies in severity depending on the strain and species affected. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) strains are deadly to domestic poultry and can wipe out entire flocks within a matter of days. Low pathogenicity avian influenza (LPAI) strains typically cause few or no signs of illness. They occur naturally in wild birds around the world. However, some LPAI strains can become highly pathogenic in poultry.  Bird flu rarely infects people, but CAN infect people and other animals.  For more informaiton, please visit https://www.aphis.usda.gov/livestock-poultry-disease/avian/avian-influenza

If you have any concerns about accepting any of these risk, we respectfully ask that you not attend this event.  If you feel that you do not fully understand the risks, please email sandy@sunrisesanctuary.org with questions.
